Hey y'all...By now you probably know we raised $1600.00 from wristband sales and donations for the Eve Carson Scholarship Fund at UNC. The NC State Fair and Anoop's debut solo show are over and archived here on Street Team. When an event with Kathy Hanrahan and Anoop on Friday was cancelled, we lost our opportunity to present him and/or his parents the WB keepsake book containing the UNC receipts and contributors list. But, as we have so often learned, there's something special the WBs.... things have a way of working out FTW. A new solution has presented itself and hopefully, I'll be able to bring you news next week that the mission is successful. Much love and appreciation to all those involved with us for the wristband project.

Anoop Desai fans -- The announcement of Anoop and David Mikush performing at UNC on Nov8, presents another opportunity for fans to get AnoopWBands.... the remaining inventory is available. You may contact me if you'd like to reserve yours before the Nov8 show. It would be fantastic to add to the $1600.00 already raised and donated to UNC. At this point, it's uncertain if more will be ordered or changed. Being able to support Anoop's music, bring attention to Eve Carson's legacy, and benefit the UNC Eve Marie Carson Memorial Scholarship has been a complete pleasure.

I just received a very nice thank you letter from UNC everyone!! I decided to show you the nice personal note to Anoop and you fans in a photo, and copy the text of the letter here for you to read and think about, since our Wristband Book is now with Anoop's family.... Nov. 25, 2009 Anoop Desai Fans c/o Jean Logan (Jean’s address) Dear Ms. Logan: On behalf of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I want to thank you for your recent gift to the Eve Marie Carson Scholarship Fund. Eve was a treasure--- a rare, ‘priceless gem’. Her infectious energy, tireless dedication and profound yet youthful wisdom combined to define the “Carolina Way.” She touched so many people during her life, and her influence still reverberates across campus and beyond as evidenced by all the good work she has inspired. Eve envisioned a merit scholarship as a way to recognize her fellow students who began to realize their leadership potential while attending Carolina. In recognizing a deserving junior, the Eve Carson Scholarship helps Carolina continue the commitment and tradition of leadership to which Eve aspired. The inaugural Carson Scholar, senior Elinor Benami, personifies Eve’s vision for student growth and leadership. An economics major and environmental minor from Knoxville, Tenn., Elinor traveled to the Middle East las summer to intern with the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies. She worked won the institute’s trans-boundary environmental research and peace-building projects and also pursued her own independent projects. Her efforts with the institute focused on co-developing a guide for rainwater harvesting, contributing to a socioeconomic baseline report for the western portion of the Arava Valley region, and aiding in grant proposal preparation and review. Elinor’s experience in the Middle East is the first of many that will exemplify the leadership, scholarship and dedication that thrive at Carolina. Her service and your support are both wonderful tributes to Eve, and we are grateful for your part in fostering service and learning opportunities that honor Eve’s legacy and make a difference in the lives of others. Sincerely, Shirley A. Ort Associate Provost and Director Office of Scholarships and Student Aid
