HEYGUYSGUESSWHAT.
I saw Anoop Desai today~ grin.gif
Not a huuuuge fan, but I do like his singing. He's got great musicianship and it shoooows.
Maybe not Adam's range but sometimes Adam falls short or overshoots as far as musicianship and phrasing goes, so, ya know, it evens out.
Let it be said that he looks different- he's grown a bit of a beard (facial hair suits him better than no facial hair, in my opinion). Also, he wore makeup on American Idol. So little things like a few blemishes on his face and the fact that he has a larger-than-perfect-nose are evident. Also, they make him look A LOT less thin on American Idol. HE IS SO LANKY GUYS. His head looked kinda small compared to the rest of him. He's also REALLY TALL. You can't tell so well on the show. But holy cow, he towered over me.
He does look kinda dorky, like Simon said in the beginning, but not so bad- just really lanky.
It was so cute though~
He hasn't gotten used to being famous (yes, famous, trust me, FAMOUS). I'm pretty sure I'm in the first town he's visited since American Idol, so I got to see his first reactions to it. He was really gracious (especially when I saw him, got flustered, and ended up telling him that I saw him in a play like... 8 years ago, for no good reason, other than something to say... embarassing), but he was so... dazed. He said 'thank you' a lot, signed autographs (he never seemed to get over the shock of someone asking him for an autograph, even though he did it so much he must have had carpel tunnel by the end of the day), but he was just... so surprised by EVERYTHING. It was seriously adorable though~
So apparently he's working on an R&B album right now
BUY HIS ALBUM WHENEVER IT COMES OUT IF YOU LIKED HIS SINGING PLEASE.
Help support the guy. original.gif

American Idol Star Anoop Desai &

Folklife Festival, July 2008
I met Anoop in Washington, D.C. last July - as a folklife and music student, he was a volunteer for the festival and was designated the helper for our tent. He moderated the panel discussions, interviewed winemakers, helped set up every morning and break down every evening, and was a fantastic guy - helpful, kind, funny and genuine. It was so exciting to see him on AI - regardless of how he ultimately does on the show, I know he'll have an interesting and successful life.

Another Anoop sighting from April in LA
www.paulayoo.com/content/yoo-anoop-wed-4109I have nicknamed my American Idol Top 4 "The Four A's!"
I have, however, a special place in my heart for the Awesome Anoop - I love his a capella singing background, his hard working and devoted parents, and his academic intelligence, grace, and good sportsmanship. Anoop could have been a character in my novel GOOD ENOUGH! I think he would have been a great friend to main character Patti Yoon in GOOD ENOUGH. Anoop, you are MORE than Good Enough! Wink
So anyway, I totally FREAKED OUT when I saw him. My friend, ANUPAM NIGAM (a producer for the hilarious show PSYCH on USA), was kind enough to take our pictures. Although he's not an American Idol regular viewer, he DID vote for Anoop! (An also was worried I might explode and told me to calm down - LOL! I was flipping out!)
Anyway, being the total Fan Girl that I am, I squealed and asked Anoop for a picture with him. He was soooooo nice and kind enough to leave the restaurant area to a lamp so we could have enough light to take this photo:
Look how tall he is!!! (I'm only 4'11" though). Anyway, I love his singing voice. I think he's a great musician and has a fun sense of humor. My favorite performance was when he sang Willie Nelson's "Always On My Mind" a few weeks ago. If you want to see it, check out this link at the awesome
