Kay so I'm Shaquille(say it very french-like, lol not pronounced like the bball player's) & I'm African American & sort of Creole (my dad is half French and half Apache [ hence the last name, Fontenot. Anyway! Half of my family is fluent in French (Im not *sigh*, but I can understand it most of the time). That same half eats cajun food and traditional European/French foods. They aren't weird. It's just a cool close-nit SPICY FOOD EATING, LOUD, FRENCH TALKIN' family. My bestfriend is Telugu & I love his culture. I've known him since we were like 6 and young and stupid and I've been hanging at his house and learning his customs etc since day one! The food of South India is amazing. I have learned so much from his mom & other family friends through my experiences with their family. I LOVE COOKING AND EATING INDIA FOOD! It's a wonder I'm not a fatty, lol. Currently I'm learning TELUGU (his language, lol), but I'm learning how to write it first & then probably doing an independent study in South India in the near future (and might be able to go to his hometown next summer)! Ugadi is like the Telugu new year. If one is happening in your town, you should definitely check it out! This post was kind of random, but oh well. Telugu is sucha pretty language .. am determined to learn it, but I don't know anyone that speaks it haha ... and SOUTH INDIANS ARE AWESOME lol
