So, I just came up with something but I'm not sure if it'll work or not. Have you ever gone to an event such as a concert or sports game and walked back to your car to find a flyer posted on your windshield or have people hand you one while walking to your car. Well its happened to me MANY times LOL
So I got to thinking. Does that kind of promotion actually help? When I went to David Cook's concert, some lady gave me an Allison Iraheta sticker of some sort. The picture was her cover of her album and the title. I think it even had her website on there as well.
Anyway, what do you guys think of this idea? Should we try and do this and distribute them wherever we think will get the most exposure? I'm willing to put in some money to invest in getting these done. I know someone who can get these done for me.
So, let me know what you guys think.

I went to one of the stops at Jason Castro's mall tour. His street teamer approached with a flyer and told me where to get his EP. Because the mall tour attracted a lot of walk-by's, so it was effective.
We tried distributing Andy Skib stuff during the Seaso 7 AI tour. I am not so sure if that was effective (because most AI people give a crap about indie artists) but it was sorta fun.

Distributing flyers is fun but how many really read them before throwing them out? I'm not sure there, but here I see people throw them 2 steps away from the one who gave it w/o even looking at what's written.
Of course Anoop's will be different because we will make it catchy & he looks so good to throw away. =) It will help too if we do it alongside or days before his mall tour / promotional show so they will be able hear him. His voice will make them wonder who he is & when they see him, we know we'll win because he's too hard to resist =)

Maybe we're gonna have to hang them up somewhere people can see them. I can't think of examples right now though lol

Maybe we could persuade them to put some of the flyers at the customer service booth of supermarkets & check out counters of record stores...

Don't they also have those bulletin boards on college campuses? That'd be a reallyyyy great place to put them!

When I got the postcards for the NC State Fair I asked people to hang them up or put them on the counter at colleges, restaurants, clubs, bowling alleys, laundromats, etc.....or just leave a few in the bathroom.
Handing out flyers/postcards/business cards at other concerts is a great idea. I have seen that done many times. Obviously it works better at concerts of artists with similar musical taste.
Also we can send Myspace/Facebook ads to people who post on similar artists' pages.

Again I feel like handing out flyers would be kind of pushy and people don't like that...I mean if we put them in places like and not made it so you see it every two feet, it would be tasteful.
I don't think handing them out would be the best idea because people don't like to be bothered like that and it turns them off.

I'm not sure how handing out flyers after a concert is being pushy because thats all you see after a concert is finished.
What turns people off is when a mass number of people call the radio stations especially when they're not even from that area.
Making flyers, contacting websitess (contacting not constantly emailing them) none of that is being pushy. you have to start somewhere.

Actually those flyers can be a great conversation starter for meeting new people and potential future fans. Maybe there are some people who don't like being approached to. But they are probably that way with or without flyers. When I went to see Jason Castro at the mall in Virginia, a street teamer came to talk to me with a flyer. If she just walked up to me, there may have been an awkward moment at the first few seconds. But because she approached me with a flyer with Jason's pic on it, it was immediately obvious that she was trying to promote Jason to me. So we immediately started talking. I can see myself going to the jazzfest this spring and handing out flyers before Anita Baker or Drake. Hopefully by then the official website is up. Pretty much all you need on flyers is a pic of Anoop (hopefully the same one used as a single or EP cover) and web URL.

Yoko, can you somehow get the single cover sent to you so that way, these flyers can be made?

Yoko, can you somehow get the single cover sent to you so that way, these flyers can be made? I doubt I would get such a priviledge. I'm sure all of us will see it as soon as it is ready.

OMG, Sevgli !!! I had not seen that picture on his myspace. that's going to be the picture for the single ? Awesome !! It is absolutely fabulous - it has emotion and it captures of one of my favorite moments of his tour performance. Is it ok to say that I am not crazy about most of his photoshoot pictures ? I do love the one in the blue suit where he's standing against the wall - I'd love to see that one on his website and twitter page instead of the one he has at the moment. This one :

We can't let this drop. Every little bit helps. Make your own flyers if you want to. Some of us will be hanging up postcards soon. I like the postcard/business card idea because people are more apt to look at them and/or keep them.
