We want Anoop to come to do a show near us, right? So why don't we start compiling the list of possible venues here out in the open? Don't just list the names of the venues, though. You want to make a compelling case why the place you mention is a good place for Anoop. Perhaps you can give an example of the acts who played there recently. I'll start. House of Blues New Orleans, and Parish Room: Whereas the main HoB holds about 1,000 people, the smaller parish room holds about 300. I can see he could be a supporting act in the main room show (e.g., Drake played there, for example) whereas he could be the main act in Parish Room. www.houseofblues.com/venues/clubvenues/neworleans/Tulane University - They have a few concert halls. I've never been to one but I've seen ads for Disney acts and stuff. Southeastern University - In the fall, they have a month-long arts fest, and brings in lots of acts, big and small. Casinos in the Mississippi Gulf Coast (Imperial Palace, Beau Rivage, Hard Rock Casino) - They have venues of all sizes. Chrisette Michele was at a sold-out show at IP last week. Jenifer Hudson and Robin Thicke was at Beau Rivage a few months ago.

Great idea, Yoko. Taking into consideration that Anoop is just starting out, below are some Toronto and surrounding area venues that I thought might be appropriate: Kool Haus at The Guvernment (Toronto) - www.theguvernment.com/This is a standing room only, general admission venue and has a capacity of about 2,500 ppl. I’ve seen a few concerts there – Joss Stone, Craig David – and most recently, Mario and Trey Songz were there in Dec 2009. Even though the capacity seems high, it doesn't quite feel so expansive. The Mod Club Theatre (Toronto) - www.themodclub.comCapacity of about 600 ppl. Intimate venue in a central Toronto location. Artists who’ve performed here include: Joey McIntyre from NKOTB, Estelle, Keith Urban, Metric. The Sound Academy (Toronto) - www.sound-academy.com/Capacity of about 2,500. In my personal opinion, this venue is not the nicest (I was just there for a GZA concert), however, a lot of artists have performed here including, Timbaland, Robin Thicke (Feb 14/2010) and John Mayer. The Studio at Hamilton Place (Hamilton) - www.hecfi.ca/hecfiEntertainment/SFP_studio.phpCapacity of about 400. Great venue – small and intimate. I saw Hawksley Workman there last year. Artists who have performed here include: Jully Black (Canadian R&B singer). This venue is owned by HECFI – the same parent company who owns Copps Coliseum, which is where the American Idols 2009 concert took place. Revival (Toronto) - www.revivalbar.comVery small, club venue in a hip, central Toronto location. Artists who have performed here include: The Black Eyed Peas w/Justin Timberlake (back in 2003). Would be conducive to a “CD Release Party.”

Anoop already has a lot of connections in Nashville so he probably knows all the best places here. But here's some great places in Nashville...but it also depends on what size venue he's looking for: on a smaller scale.. B.B. King's www.bbkingclubs.com/index.php?page=nashhome** if you think blues in Nashville, BB Kings is the # 1 place Mercy Lounge www.mercylounge.com/home/***Amos Lee was at Mercy Lounge earlier this year 12th and Porter www.12thandporterlive.com/** a very well know Indie club with great acoustics and a wide variety of music genres - Marc Broussard, Josh Hoge, Melinda Doolittle and others just did a big Haiti fundraiser show there. On a larger scale The Ryman www.ryman.com/** The Ryman is the premiere place to play in Nashville. It holds around 2000 people. Everybody plays at the Ryman...from Ray LaMontagne to Train to BB King to Keb Mo to Sufjan Stevens to Harry Connick, Jr. along with several AI winners and finalists . War Memorial Auditorium - holds around 1500, it's a very well known and great acoustics - www.tpac.org/facilities/warmemorial.asp

Does this include us? He could do some in Ayala Malls which are scattered all over the metro & some are accessible via the MRT (public transport) like Glorietta & Trinoma. Also Kris did a show at Bonifacio High Street which is part of the Ayala Malls www.myayalamalls.com/mall events SM malls are also scattered so that might also help. SM Mall of Asia has a concert ground . Remember the "Filipino version of Fair" vid we posted? That's near breakwater and at the back of the mall. There's a big space there & I think for 2 years, pyrolympics were held there. Wait, I think Neyo did his concert there! =) www.smsupermalls.com/smsupermalls/index.php?p=650 Another common venue for concerts is the Araneta Coliseum. A lot of artists performed there & on the 16thm chicago will be there then Back Street Boys on the 27th www.aranetacoliseum.com/2006/index.php

Bahhhston!! I've only been to HOB, and obviously a cool venue to perform at. I did a little research and the other two are potential places as well.
House of Blues - Boston 36 Lansdowne Street, Boston, MA
Orpheum Theatre 1 Hamilton Place, Boston, MA 02108
The Palladium 261 Main Street Worcester, MA 01608

It would help if you can provide examples of who played at these venues recently.

The Highline Ballroom in NYC Located at 431 W 16th St New York, NY 10011 between 9th and 10th Ave (212) 414-5994 Of course, the recent Ryan Seacrest's Rock My Town concert featuring Adam Lambert, Kris Allen, and Allison Iraheta was held there. Plus, Elliott Yamin and Melinda Doolittle, previous American Idol finalists, have given concerts there as well so it appears to be an Idol-friendly venue. Don't know how many the venue holds, but it's set up like a restaurant with table and a bar and patrons can sit at the bar, tables, or booths. I was there for the Elliott Yamin show back in January and VIPS (if you paid extra, you were a VIP) got seating up front. Otherwise, it was first come, first serve, but there was plenty of standing room. They serve dinner and drinks.

Another venue is the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, CT, which has multiple venues of varying size. www.mohegansun.com/entertainment/schedule-of-events.html. The arena is 10,000 seats, which I believe very few American Idol finalists can fill (maybe Clay Aiken, Chris Daughtry, Kelly Clarkson, and Carrie Underwood.) But they have a Cabaret Theater that seats 350. I have never been to a show at the Cabaret but previous artists to perform there are Tony Orlando and The Indigo Girls. They also have a Wolf Den, which is free, and has seating on a first come, first serve basis. They seem to have local acts perform as well as artists with a national name that cannot fill the arena such as Sophie B. Hawkins ("As I Lay Me" and "Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover"), Kix, and Soul Asylum. However, one drawback to the Wolf Den is that it's 21 plus. Another option is the Shops at Mohegan Sun. Basically, they set up a stage in the middle of the shopping plaza and the concert is there. The American Stars tour was held there featuring American Idol alums Gina Glocksen, Michael Sarver, David Hernandez, and Alexis Grace. It got a good turnout considering it was a last minute warm up for their holiday tour and it was not heavily promoted online (the tour didn't have a website). Other Idol alums said to have performed there are Amanda Overmyer and Syesha Mercado (I knew about Amanda from the radio but someone else mentioned Syesha.) Advantages to Mohegan are: accessibility to CT, RI, and MA. There are plenty of casino buses to take you there from those states and NY but I think many going to the concerts drive. Also, with a show at the Shops, you get foot traffic where people who didn't know about the show see the stage and stop to watch. Also, with the Shops at Mohegan Sun, you don't need many people for it to look crowded. Another advantage is that I heard about Amanda's show on the radio so hopefully if Anoop plans a show there, it will get some media attention.
